What You Focus on Grows (Affirmations for Abundance)

What you focus on grows. That’s not a new concept. Not only that, but you probably already know that affirmations for abundance exist. Before you start thinking that this is just another post about manifesting, bear with me.

Yes, manifesting is the idea that what you focus on grows, but I am going to tell you about a very simple way to do it. I’ll also point you towards a good place that has affirmations for abundance that can truly change your life.

What You Focus on Grows

When I think about “what you focus on grows,” my first thought is, “Well, I don’t have a lot of time to repeat tons of affirmations for abundance every day.” I know they work. I’ve seen them work for myself.

However, like you, my time is very limited and precious. Basically, I work three jobs. I love being a therapist and owning a group practice. I also love writing this blog and sharing my knowledge and guiding others on their healing journeys.

Those two jobs allow me to do my most important job, which is being home with my sweet, angel baby, three-year-old son. So again, I’m busy but so is everybody else! My point is that we are doing so much every single day that most of us do not have a lot of extra time.

Taking time for yourself is important. If you want to learn more about creating that time, click here. I do make time for self-care, but I’m also realistic. I need ways to create abundance without adding one more thing to my plate!

Focus on What You Want

Four and a half years ago, I set out on a mission to find my soulmate. I was at a point in my healing journey where I knew that I was emotionally healthy and ready for marriage and a family.

I figured out a way to focus on what Iwant without putting in any extra effort. I was on the phone with an electronic health records company for my private practice getting my account set up. They asked me to give them a code with words.

In that moment, I thought about what I was wanting in my life. Next thing I knew, the word “soulmate” popped into my head. I told the lady on the phone that I wanted my code to be “soulmate,” plus plenty of extra characters that I am keeping confidential to protect my information.

I remember the lady repeating the code I gave her multiple times asking if I was sure. Yes, I was sure. Still today, that is my code. At the time, I didn’t think about the fact that I would have to share that code with future employees.

So, when I have to give that code to my employees, I always have a little giggle to myself. If they are working for me, then they already know I live in my own little world. They probably still wonder why in the world that is my code for the entire group practice.

Well, when you focus on what you want, you can get it. I believe that whole-heartedly. Just a few months after creating that code, I met my husband! Hold off on the eye roll!

Getting What You Deserve

I am not saying that using the word “soulmate” as part of my code is the reason that I met my husband. I’m saying that what you focus on grows and incorporating that on a daily basis in a simple, quick way reminds you of that focus.

Using that code as a representation as one of my affirmations for abundance grew from there. Every time I have to create a new password, I think about what I want to create in my life.

As I keep saying, “what you focus on grows” and moves you towards getting what you deserve. What popped into your head when I said, “getting what you deserve?” Hopefully, nothing but good stuff because you truly do deserve good things in your life.

When you use passwords as a way of getting what you deserve, that is also one of many affirmations for abundance as I mentioned. If you don’t believe in manifestation, that is perfectly okay. I do, but that’s a post for another day.

Using passwords as a form of getting what you deserve doesn’t have to be viewed as manifestation. Instead, view it as a gentle reminder that what you focus on grows. Every time you type in your password, that is simply opening your heart and reminding yourself of the goal you are working towards.

Sharing My Secret

I’ve never shared my passwords “secret” being a form of “what you focus on grows” with anybody other than my husband. Almost every single password we have contains a reminder of what we are focusing on as a family.

Even though I haven’t shared my secret, I have seen others doing it as well. I use a billing company for my private practice. I have to share my passwords with the owner.

She has seen the passwords that I choose. We’ve never discussed it, but she knows what I am wanting to create for my practice based on the passwords I’m using. Now, she chooses passwords that reflect what I am working towards for my practice as well.

Affirmations for Abundance

As I promised, I will also give you a resource for affirmations for abundance. I do not recommend anything I have not personally used. This resource I am about to give you is one that I have used many times in the past ten years.

The 40 Day Prosperity Plan from Intuitive Flow is the best prosperity meditation that I have ever used. Not only that, but it does not require much time. Again, I know time is very limited for all of us. This one can take two to three minutes a day or as long as you want it to take!

This prosperity meditation is very interesting. It also follows the concept of “what you focus on grows.” The first step in this prosperity meditation is to write a letter about what you want to create in your life. The website guides you in creating the letter.

Once you write your letter, you put it away in a sealed envelope. There are ten affirmations, and you’ll meditate on one each day. If you struggle with meditation, I’ve got you covered. Read my post, 5 Short Meditation Techniques.

Stick with the Prosperity Meditation

Now, for the kicker and very interesting part of this prosperity meditation. You MUST do the affirmation for the day. If you miss a day, then you have to start over at day one of your forty days.

The principle behind that is that, for some reason, you need the reset. I find it best to do the prosperity meditation with another person because accountability is priceless.

As I am writing this, I think about the times I did it with a group of people. We had a daily check in that required us to let other group members know when we had completed the affirmation for that day so that we could move forward.

If one person did not check in by the agreed-upon time, we all knew that the entire group was starting over the next day at day one again. There were times that I wanted to strangle a group member because we were supposed to be on the last day, but somebody didn’t do their affirmation for the day.

Each time, that was a reminder that the group members and I must have all had something going on in our lives that made us need the reset. Also, it was a good reminder for me to practice patience with others!

Once you complete forty days of this prosperity meditation, you will see that what you focus on grows, as I keep saying. You can open your letter after completing the forty days! This is always fun and blows my mind every single time!

The Journey of Getting What You Deserve

I remember when I was doing this in 2014. For those of you who don’t know, I was in a nearly fatal car wreck in 2010. The amount of physical pain I had in 2014 had become unbearable. I had seen numerous doctors and had several surgeries.

Each doctor I saw kept telling me that I’m just lucky to be alive and not paralyzed. Yes, I was and still am aware of that. However, I could barely function due to the amount of pain I was in.

I did this prosperity meditation. At the time, I was also dealing with a lot of other struggles and had become hopeless in terms of relief from the physical pain. In typical Mary Beth fashion, I couldn’t find the letter I’d written at the beginning of the prosperity meditation because the western world of medicine had given up on me.

I found it a few months later. As I mentioned, I had many other struggles I was dealing with and had forgotten that my letter said I wanted to find an alternative form of healing for my physical pain. Not only that, but I was also unable to work at the time and I needed this alternative form to be something that I could afford.

My Beautiful Gift from this Meditation

When I read my letter, tears began streaming down my face. I was a few months into going to acupuncture at that point. When I first went to my acupuncturist, he told me that I was going to be one of the most severe patients with whom he’d ever worked. He told me how much it was going to cost to get the treatment I needed.

I informed him that I was in graduate school, unable to work physically, and did not have the money for treatment. He asked me to share the story of what happened to me. At the point of my telling him that I was in graduate school to become a licensed therapist because I wanted to help others like I had been helped with therapy, I was given one of the most beautiful and kindest gifts imaginable to me.

He told me that he was going to treat me three times a week for the price of one treatment. I went to him for about a year and my pain was reduced significantly. I will forever be grateful to him, and I have such love and fondness for his generosity and loving soul.

Back to my letter now…. The prosperity plan was a success! I still have that letter somewhere as I saved it as a reminder of “what you focus on grows.”
